The water falls about 70 metres, but it is the volume of water and the way that it spurts out of the rainforest, itself occasionally veiled in a swiftly-moving mist, that gave it its charm.
At the base of the waterfall, winds gusted in different directions. There is a sign at the entrance that says "Beware swimming under the waterfall as currents can suck you under and cause drowning." It is not until you hear the volume of water hitting the pool and see the immense churn that you accept that swimming in this pool is not such a good idea.
A smaller pool below was much more inviting, and still provided good views of the main attraction.
